Galatians 3:3 - Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? I read this passage this morning.......and as I thought about my struggles with sin I recalled a verse I read this weekend. Romans 7:20 - Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.....could it be that a strategy of the devil is to let us to think that we can remove the sin that dwells in us by our own effort? by will power or some external discipline?
I think we must recognize that the sin in us is not me or you...it is the sin from which we have been delivered by the blood of Jesus. When the Israelites were coming into the land, the promise of possession was already clear, but God wanted them to have such faith in Him that they would be willing to stand up and fight for that possession. Even though they saw themselves as grasshoppers in comparison to the enemy. God could have caused the current inhabitants to just hand the land over to Israelites unchallenged, but he didn't. Gods desire for the Israelites was to trust him and to be willing to fight for possession so that God could show himself strong on there behalf. It is the same in our relationship to God.
How many times when the Israelites obeyed God despite fears and moved forward praising God did he deliver the enemy to them? We can not beat the enemy in our own power but we have to be willing to fight and in faith trust that the promise of is ours.
We are here for a purpose, all that we have been through has led us to this place, this moment, for this battle. Let us praise God for him bringing to this point and let us expect to see him deliver the enemy into our hands and provide victory over sin!!
Fight! Every. Day.
